Our Italian Summer

Our Italian Summer

Our Italian Summer

The food I always find myself reaching for.

Summer always changes the way we eat.

The table moves outside, friends come by, and somehow the simplest food becomes the most

enjoyable.

These are a few of the things I always find myself reaching for.

When Friends Come Over

In the summer, I often prepare Bresaola.

There isn't really a recipe. Just good Bresaola, fresh rocket, Parmigiano Reggiano, a squeeze of

lemon and plenty of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Simple ingredients, but they always bring everyone around the table.

A Walk Together

If we go for a family walk, I nearly always pack some Salamino al Finocchio, Pecorino Romano,

Nocellara olives, fresh bread and a bottle of chilled Chiaretto.

Rob never forgets his little wooden board and his Swiss Army knife.

Find a beautiful place to sit, and lunch is ready.

For me, these are some of the happiest moments of the season.

A Glass of Rosé

Our Il Frate Chiaretto comes from La Rocca, a family estate in Bardolino Classico overlooking

Lake Garda.

The family has been making wine there for generations, and today Luigi continues the work started

by his father, Attilio.

It is fresh, elegant and made to enjoy with food.

I always like to keep a bottle in the fridge. And if friends arrive unexpectedly... even better.

Always in My Pantry

There are some things I never like to be without.

Artichokes.

Sun-dried tomatoes.

Capers in sea salt.

They make a quick lunch, a salad or a plate of pasta feel just a little more special. Explore the Pantry

When Time Is Short

We don't often choose ready-made sauces for Mercato Pronto.

When we do, they have to be something we would happily eat at home.

Our Sugo all'Amatriciana is one of them.

Simply warm it, cook your favourite pasta and enjoy.

Italian food has never been about making things complicated.

Good ingredients.

Good company.

And taking time to enjoy both.

A presto
